Outrage as animal rights activists stage an anti-wool protest in the middle of Sydney using a 'bloody fake lamb'

  •  PETA staged the protest in Pitt Street Mall at lunch time

Animal rights protesters have staged a controversial protest in the middle of Sydney using a bloody and dismembered sheep.

The protest, by PETA, was held in the middle of Pitt Street - the centre of Sydney's retail trade - to protest the use of wool in clothing.

The president of Wool Producers Australia Ed Storey told 2GB's Ben Fordham the protesters were just telling lies and shearers treated the animals well.

'The care and welfare of our animal is the highest priority for the Australian sheep and wool industry.

'It's absolute rubbish what these people are saying.'
