Will ensure welfare of industries: Natarajan

Coimbatore: MP P R Natarajan on Wednesday said micro and small industries were badly by the new tax regime and reiterated his promise to bat for cancellation of the goods and services tax (GST) on job-order firms in parliament.
“We know a government can’t function without revenue from taxes. So, we will push for minimal GST on finished products,” he said while speaking at an event organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry to felicitate him.
He said only if industries exist, several thousands of workers would get employment. “So, we will work to safeguard the welfare of trade and industries.”

Natarajan said he had already made representations to railway officials regarding introduction of a night train from the city Bengaluru and another one to Madurai. He said he would get inputs and help from industrialists on metro rail service and airport expansion projects and work for the development of the city.
V Lakshminarayanasamy, president of the city chapter of ICCI, Natarajan had in his earlier term as the member of parliament from Coimbatore brought 11 new trains, besides working to make trains to Kerala via Podanur halt at Coimbatore junction and develop the city railway station.
