Hi-tech Hyderabad witnessed a scene straight out of a sci-fi flick on Wednesday morning as drones dropped off crisp copies of the day’s TOI at the homes of two of the city’s tech bigwigs. The paper was delivered by drones to BVR Mohan Reddy, former Nasscom chairman and executive chairman of homegrown IT biggie Cyient Ltd, as well as Phanindra Sama, redBus founder and chief innovation officer, Telangana, to mark the launch of the ‘Times Techies’ page. After all, artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, big data, AR/VR and cloud are no more just buzzwords but have become a way of life.

“Congratulations to TOI for starting a special page - Times Techies. Technology is accelerating at an unprecedented pace and has become all-pervasive, impacting every business and every walk of life. The launch of Times Techies will help everyone in learning more on technology developments on a regular basis," said BVR Mohan Reddy, former Nasscom chairman, and executive chairman of Cyient Ltd.

"TOI has always been the first to spot future trends and be relevant, be it the special page that helped demystify the world of startups or ‘Times Techies’ that has rolled out today. Our lives are becoming impacted by technology like never before and not just techies but also the common man needs to understand the world of technology and how to use it for his or her benefit.

A large societal change happens when people have knowledge and confidence, which this initiative will help with. Thanks TOI for doing a good job for the nation at a time when there is a lot of talk about losing jobs. Times Techies comes at just the right time," Phanindra Sama, redBus founder and chief innovation officer, Telangana government
