KOZHIKODE: The Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIM-K) has launched a new post graduate management programme focused on developing potential business leaders.

The full-time, residential, one-year programme is expected to cater to experienced executives who aspire for top jobs in large corporates.

"This leadership programme aims to systematically nurture and shape experienced minds into high potential leaders who are authentic, capable, multi-dimensional, and grounded in core values. The programme will transcend conventional management instruction and pedagogy to provide focused learning," Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director of IIM-K, said.

IIM-K said that the programme will involve an innovative admission process, unique curriculum and pedagogy that combine diverse perspectives to provide holistic inputs.

"While we have put together just the most appropriate content in the curriculum, the highlight of the programme would be the learning methods that would attempt to bring out true leadership potential of the candidates through personalised and reflective learning approaches," said Prof. Debashis Chatterjee.

The gap for such an academic programme is identified based on the fact that a large number of corporates have been demanding focused inputs for their high-potential, mid-level executives that prepare them to take up leadership roles within the organization.

The chairperson of the new programme, Prof. Venkataraman, said, "Finding ready leadership talent has become increasingly difficult. Large companies today expect their HR departments to play a strategic role in identifying high potential candidates within the organization early on and groom them for bigger roles towards developing a leadership pipeline. We would expect that corporations committed to development of leaders who combine both professional and organizational values, would encourage and facilitate their select executives to apply to the programme and discover their leadership potential."

The programme is likely to combine intensive in-class, inspiring off-campus and immersive international components towards holistic development of the participants. The deadline for online submission of applications on the Institute's website is August 15, 2019 and classes would commence in November 2019.
