Karnataka: Man gets 10-year RI for raping 8-year-old daughter in Mysuru

MYSURU: A special court has sentenced a man to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping his eight-year-old daughter in Karnataka's Mysuru district.
The resident of a village under Periyapatna taluk was found guilty of raping his own daughter on April 14, 2017. The girl’s mother, who is a witness in the case, had lodged a complaint against her husband.
Public prosecutor BC Shivarudraswamy told TOI that judge BS Jayashree of the special court, handling cases of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, has also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on the convict.
Usually, the girl went to watch television programmes at the landlord’s place in Periyapatna where her mother worked. On that day, the girl was late in returning home. The mother went in search of her daughter only to find her missing at the landlord’s place. Later, she along with few villagers launched a search for her only to find her at a tobacco barn with her father who had molested her. The mother was shocked and heartbroken. Without a second thought, the mother rushed to the police station and lodge a police complaint husband.

Shivarudraswamy said the court has also ordered a compensation of Rs 4 lakh from Victim Compensation Fund.
This is a second conviction in less than five days in the POSCO case in Mysuru.
