SRINAGAR: Sacked Jammu and Kashmir Bank chairman
Parvez Ahmad Negroo on Tuesday refuted media reports that said he had given his daughter-in-law a job in his bank, saying he has only one son, a student in Class X, and therefore there is no question of having a daughter-in-law.
In a tweet, Parvez Negroo said he had absolutely no regrets. "Absolutely no regrets. Did my job most diligently, honestly and in the best interest of the institution. Open to scrutiny on each and every transaction I have done during my two decades of functioning in the bank," he said.
He also clarified that reports that his in-laws' premises at Kapran and Wuyan had been taken up by the bank as office space were false "because I am not married in Kashmir". Nengroo's wife is from Delhi.
He said that contrary to reports that he was a chartered accountant, he had joined the bank as a company secretary in 1998 and had been involved in floating its first-ever public issue, making it the first listed company of the state.
Negroo denied reports that
Shamsuddin Andrabi, brother of ex-Peoples Democratic Party minister Farooq Andrabi, was appointed by him as a manager in the bank. He said he had not appointed anyone by this name as a manager of the bank.
He said no money was spent on Royal Springs Golf Course under CSR as reported in media. However, Rs 8 crore was spent under the said scheme on the Kashmir Golf Course on the instructions of former cheif minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, bank sources disclosed.
He said the distribution of advertisements to various newspapers had been done fairly and judiciously during his tenure as the bank's chairman.
