Corpn officials take stock of drinking water situation

Coimbatore: A team of officials of the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) led by commissioner Sravan Kumar Jatavath took stock of the drinking water situation in residential areas in Velandipalayam, in the west zone, on Tuesday. The team met local residents and inquired about water woes.
The visit came a day after TOI carried a report on the plight of the residents, who were in a fix as they had not received potable water for 13 days. They were asked to collect water from trucks on Saturday night.
A release from the corporation said the commissioner met residents of Nallammal Street and Krishnan Kovil Street and asked them whether they were being supplied water through corporation trucks.

The commissioner directed the officials to take steps to regularly water supply. He also directed sanitary workers to remove garbage from Thekkalur stream.
Velandipalayam residents had complained that though they were supplied potable water once in 15 days, the quantum of water had come down. They had to depend on water from trucks during the severe drought of 2016, they added.
