Women from different wards of Dindigul Corporation on Tuesday picketed the office of the Corporation Commissioner with empty pots demanding drinking water supply.

People from Kudaiparaipatti in ward number 40 blocked Dindigul-Batlagundu Road. The police tried to pacify them but they did not budge. Traffic was affected for half an hour due to the protest and the people dispersed only after the authorities intervened and promised to take action.

Similarly, people from R.V. Nagar in ward number 22 and Chellandiamman Kovil Street in ward number 10 picketed the Commissioner’s office. The women complained that they have been buying water for the past eight months as pipes are not supplying water. The authorities promised to look into the issue and blamed it on incomplete laying of pipes in some areas. The women deplored that the water they buy was unhygienic causing health problem.
