“The news about my appointment as Governor of Andhra Pradesh is not true,” she said emphatically in a tweet at 10.45 p.m. Three minutes before, she explained how her visit to Vice-President, M. Venkaiah Naidu triggered this speculation.
“I called on the Vice President of India Shri Venkaiah Naidu on demitting office as Minister of External Affairs. This was enough for Twitter to appoint me as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh,” she tweeted.
Mumbai Police have initiated inquiries into the alleged hacking of actor Amitabh Bachchan’s Twitter account.
Late on June 10, Mr. Bachchan’s display image on his Twitter account — @SrBachchan — was replaced with that of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan. A tweet sent out from his account said, “This is an important call to the whole world! We do condemn the irrespective behaviors of Iceland republic towards Turkish footballers. We speak softly but carry a big stick and inform you about the big Cyber attack here. As Ayyıldız Tim Turkish Cyber Armny +++”.
Pakistan decides to let Narendra Modi’s aircraft fly over its airspace to Bishkek
Pakistan on June 10 decided in principle to let Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s aircraft fly over its airspace to Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan where he has to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit on June 13-14, where his Pakistani counterpart Imran Khan would also be present.
12 Finance Ministry officials ‘forcibly retired’
In a sweeping action aimed at removing corrupt officials from service, President Ramnath Kovind on Monday forcibly ordered the retirement of 12 senior officials of the Ministry of Finance.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (j) of rule 56 of the Fundamental Rules, the President of India has retired 12 Officers of the Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) in public interest with immediate effect from the afternoon of June 11, 2019 on completing 50 years of age,” the Finance Ministry said on Monday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, the External Affairs Ministry said here on Monday.
“We are happy to confirm bilateral meetings with Russia and China. There are also similar requests from others,” said A. Gitesh Sarma, Secretary in charge of Western affairs in the Ministry.
BBC to scrap free TV licences for people over 75
Pensioners in Britain who have watched television such as “Blue Planet” and “Doctor Who” for free will have to start paying after the publicly-funded BBC said it would scrap free licences for those over 75-years-old.
The BBC, which is funded by a tax on all television watching households, said around 3.7 million pensioners who previously received a free TV licence will have to pay when its new rules come into force in June 2020.
