Wants security guarantee from Centre

The Aam Aadmi Party on Monday condemned the attack on crew members of a TV news channel and urged Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik to immediately arrest the culprits behind it.

AAP Delhi in-charge Gopal Rai questioned Home Minister Amit Shah’s silence on the issue and said he should hold a review meeting on Delhi’s security.

No arrests yet

“Even after this much time [after the shooting], there has been no comment from the Home Minister and no arrests so far,” Mr. Rai said addressing a press conference on Monday.

“They [crew] were followed for two hours and the PCR van came two hours after being informed. Even after that, no major investigation happened. There was a check post but the police there only took a photo,” he added.

“Question about Delhi’s security has been raised again and again and today it has come to the fore again [after this incident]. There is no change even after the Central government has taken charge,” he said.

“AAP are keeping two demands. First, the Police Commissioner should immediately arrest these people. Second, the Home Minister should hold a meeting on Delhi’s law and order and guarantee security in the city,” Mr. Rai said.
