M. Mallikarjun Kharge, senior Congress leader and former MP, on Monday dismissed speculation of him becoming AICC president, and said it was just “rumours”.

Mr. Kharge, speaking to presspersons here, said that Rahul Gandhi will continue as the president, as he is the only unifying force in the Congressnow.

Mr. Gandhi is the only acceptable face and he should not lose hope owing to the adverse Lok Sabha election results, he said.

Mr. Kharge said that party leaders will continue to work hard for the rebuilding and strengthening of its grassroots network.
