The American Telangana Association (ATA) has grand plans to launch projects in healthcare and education sectors in the State in partnership with foreign companies.
“Apart from promoting Telangana and Telugu culture among the diaspora, we want to contribute to the motherland through some projects in the two key sectors,” ATA president Vinod Kukunoor said at a press conference.
“If the plans fructify, thousands of people in Telangana will get employment opportunities but we need the government’s support,” he said, adding that the ATA would engage with the government. “I will take up this idea with Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao,” he said.
Higher studies
Mr. Kukunoor, who took over as the ATA president in May, said another key issue that they would deal with is that of students going to the U.S.A. for higher studies violating norms and immigration issues.
The recent ‘fake Farmington University’ incident exposed how students can fall into a trap and how dangerous and devastating it can be for their careers and lives.
“We extended our best efforts to get them released from jails on bonds and we want all students to take a lesson from it. Come legally and work legally as the best of opportunities await for hardworking and genuine students,” Mr. Kukunoor added.
He said the ATA had elected the EC team and 27 new board members.
Karunakar Madhavaram is the ATA chairman and Venkat Manthena the general secretary.
