No age relaxation for domicile applicants seeking government jobs in Madhya Pradesh

BHOPAL: Following a court order, the state cabinet on Tuesday revised the age criteria provision for state government job recruitments. Applicants who are domicile of Madhya Pradesh will no longer get any advantage over those from outside the state on the age eligibility. Now, the same age criteria will apply for domicile of Madhya Pradesh and those from other states.
Minister for law PC Sharma said that the former BJP government had made two sets of provisions on age eligibility requirements for those applying for government jobs both through PSC (Public Service Commission) for Class I and II and for non-PSC appointments for Class III and IV grades. The erstwhile Shivraj Singh Chouhan government had provided different age eligibility criteria for domicile applicants and those from other states applying for a job here.

"After the high court order, cabinet today decided that for Class I and II recruitments through PSC, age limit would be 21 to 35 years for both domicile of Madhya Pradesh and outside," PC Sharma said. Previously, it was the same for domicile applicants while for residents from other states, the age limit was 21 to 30 years. Domiciles had an advantage of five years.
"For non-PSC recruitments the age limit will now be from 18 to 32 years. For SC/ST reserved quota, the age limit is 21 to 40 years for PSC examination recruitments and 18 to 37 for non-PSC appointments," PC Sharma said. The previous provision was that outsiders seeking non-PSC jobs had an age limit of 18 to 27 years. For SC/ST community candidates from outside, the age limit was 21 to 35 years for PSC recruitments and 18 to 32 years for non-PSC appointments.
