Thiruvananthapuram:
Kerala has become a less corrupt state and there wasno corruption at all among the higher-ups of the government, said chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
“From the notoriety of being a place where corruption had been a norm, we have changed. The existing corrupt practices in some sectors will also be eradicated soon. Now, there is a feeling that no corrupt person will go scot-free,” he said after releasing government’s
progress report of three years in office.
The first copy of the detailed progress report was received by Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan.
Referring to the sweeping changes in various fields, the CM said there was always a complaint that big industries neglected Kerala. “We could see a change here too. Nissan, Fujitzu, Air Bus, Taurus and Tech Mahindra have set foot here. More technological giants will join them,” he said.
He added that the Nava Kerala Mission aimed at revitalising key sectors has been a huge success and improvement is visible in schools and hospitals.
On the progress report, Vijayan said people have the right to know how their government has fared in keeping its election promises and that conviction has inspired the government to publish its progress report every year.
Revenue minister E Chandrasekharan presided over the function. Ministers K Krishnan Kutty, A K Saseendran, Ramachandran Kadannappally, Mayor V K Prasanth, district panchayat president V K Madhu and chief secretary Tom Jose spoke.
