Mayor Balkar Sandhu visited the in Ludhiana on Monday for taking a look at the condition of sewerage overflow and he was surprised to see the condition in the area. The
MLA from east constituency Sanjay Talwar took mayor to the area where people are facing tough times. Despite several attempts the problem is not coming to an end.
The mayor has instructed the officials to disconnect the sewer connections of industrial units which are discharging excess water. After seeing the condition of the road, Mayor Balkar Singh also met the people along with MLA Talwar.
Mayor instructed the civic officials to prepare the estimates of work that can help this sewerage overflow problem as soon as possible. MLA Talwar also raised the matter of industrial units throwing excess discharge in MC sewerage lines and ultimately affecting the drainage of sewerage water of city.
MLA Talwar told the mayor that many dyeing units operational at Rahon Road have permission to run a washing unit but actually they are running complete dyeing unit. He said washing units use 20 to 30 percent of the water as compared to the dyeing units. It is due to these dyeing units the areas at Rahon Road are suffering with sewerage overflow, he said.
The mayor has instructed the operation and maintenance cell officials to check the sewer connections in the units where excess water is being discharged and then cut their connections.
