Gorakhpur: In the fifth arrest in three days over uploading alleged objectionable posts on chief minister

Prashant Kanojia, two senior employees of a private news channel, Ishika Singh and Anuj Shukla were arrested over alleged defamatory content against CM.
On Monday, a resident of Gola area of Gorakhpur, Peer Mohammad, shared an allegedly objectionable post on
social media which went viral. Mohammad had shared the post of one Dharamveer Bharti, a resident of Barrah under Gola police station in the district. Bharti is currently working in Muscat, said SSP Gorakhpur Sunil Gupta.
Gola police registered a case against Peer Mohammad and Dharamveer Bharti under Sections 503 (criminal intimidation), 505 (statement conducing public mischief) IPC and 65/66 IT Act on Sunday evening after one Umesh Kumar Yadav complained from his twitter account to police.
Police sent Peer Mohammad, a scrap dealer, to Gorakhpur district jail on Monday, while Bharti is employed abroad. The post contained a wedding card mentioning the name of chief minister. Manager of a nursing home in Bichchia area of Gorakhpur, Ram Prasad, was also sent behind bars on Monday for an objectionable post against CM Yogi.
On Saturday, cyber cell of Lucknow Police arrested Delhi-based freelance journalist Prashant Jagdish Kanojia for sharing video of a Kanpur-based woman. Television channel employees Ishika Singh and Anuj Shukla were also arrested in Noida for allegedly broadcasting defamatory content against Yogi on June 6, police said.
Police took action against the news channel for airing the woman’s claims without verification. “This could have led to a possible law and order situation,” SSP, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Vaibhav Krishna had said. During the probe, it was also found that the channel did not have requisite licence to operate.
