JALANDHAR: A DSP of the Punjab Armed Police (PAP) was attacked and injured by his neighbour on Saturday night after an altercation in Rail Vihar Colony in Rama Mandi area here. The injured DSP has accused wife of a priest and his son of attacking and injuring him with a sharpedged weapon while the priest has alleged that the DSP first hurled abuses in front of his house.
DSP Manish Kumar, who got an injury on his head, said that he reached his home around 7.30pm after returning from duty and when he was still opening the gate of his house, priest Harish Chander’s son and wife came from behind and attacked him. “His wife provoked their son to attack me and he did so with a sharpedged weapon. I fell down bleeding profusely from my head,” he said. Harish Chander’s house is opposite to DSP’s house.

However, Harish claimed that the DSP usually used abusive language and on that day also he did the same. “When I and my wife objected, he tried to hit me with a stick. I managed to stop him and when he tried to hit me once again my wife snatched his stick and hit him,” he said.
Police officials said that police personnel who rushed to the spot found him bleeding profusely. “We are recording the statement of the injured DSP and would then verify the details. The equation between the neighbours was bitter. A case is yet to be registered,” said ACP central Harsimrat Singh.
