Mercedes Slaps 2020 GLS 450 With $76,195 Tag, Heaps Of Standard Kit

Mercedes has announced U.S.-market pricing details of the new GLS, which are currently limited to just the GLS 450 4Matic that’s set to arrive in dealerships Stateside by the end of the year.

The new GLS 450 starts from $76,195 (including a $995 destination and delivery fee) and features a long list of equipment worthy of its flagship status in the German car maker’s high-riding vehicle range.

For the first time in a Mercedes SUV, customers will be able to choose between the traditional three-row, seven-seat configuration or a six-seat setup with a pair of individual captain chairs in the middle.

Popular options on the previous-gen GLS like the Premium Package (including Blind Spot Assist, Smartphone Integration, Navigation, SIRIUS XM Satellite Radio, Multi-color ambient lighting and KEYLESS-GO), the Lighting Package (Active LED Headlamps and Adaptive High beam Assist) and the Parking Assist Package (Active Parking Assist and Surround View Camera), are now all standard.

In addition, the new GLS features the company’s MBUX dual-display setup with a pair of 12.3-inch screens and intelligent voice control, 64-color ambient lighting, three fully electrically adjusted seat rows, 9 USB ports and a 115V household outlet, a Burmester Surround Sound system, 19-inch wheels and a sliding sunroof.

Not enough? Merc also offers new personalization options for the interior, such as Executive Rear Seat Packages, open-pore trims and up to 5 (!) individual zones of climate control.

Powering the GLS 450 4Matic is the company’s new turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 48-volt EQ Boost mild-hybrid technology. The powertrain produces a combined 362hp and 369lb-ft (500Nm) of torque, with an additional 21hp and 184lb-ft available over short periods.
