Four killed, four injured in road accident on Yamuna Expressway

The accident took place in Mathura district.
AGRA: Four people were killed and four suffered injuries after a speeding hatch-back hit a motorbike and a van on Yamuna Expressway early Monday morning.
The accident took place near 84 milestone of Surir police jurisdiction in Mathura district.

According to police, the impact of the accident was so severe that three victims were killed on spot, while another died on the way to hospital.
Deceased were identified as Surender Kumar (32) of Pratapgarh, Dharmender Kumar (40) of Panchkula, Haryana, Vikam Singh (50) of Kirawal Nagar, Delhi and Mahesh Master (60), Delhi. While the injured were identified as Suresh Sharma (52), Pawan Kumar (48), Shruti (18) and Rajendra Kumar.
Station house officer of Surir, Anoop Saroj said, "Surender Kumar and Dharmender Kumar were on a motorbike, while rest of the victims were in a van which was parked on the extreme left lane. They were hit by a New Delhi registered hatchback driven by Vishal (25), resident of Bakauli, Delhi. He has been detained and an FIR will be lodged against him once we receive a written complaint from the victim’s relative. Vishal was taking his employer Yogesh Mittal and his family member to Lucknow."

"During interrogation, Vishal claimed, that in order to save bike riders he took a sharp turn and hit a vehicle parked on the side lane. But his argument seems weak, as his car was cruising on very high speed which was evident from the mangled motor-bike and van hit by hatchback. The bike riders were hit with extreme speed and they died on spot," said officer Anoop.
According to Prempal Singh, an occupant in the van who survived the accident said, "A group of six to seven people were heading Salempur of Jasrana police jurisdiction, Firozabad to participate in a spiritual meet (satsang). We had parked the van on the road side to take rest, but suddenly a speeding hatchback hit us along with motor-bike."
