BHUBANESWAR: The state government on Monday released Rs 197.59 crore to Puri district administration in the first phase for
house building assistance for those affected by cyclone Fani.
The first installment ranging from Rs 3,200 to Rs 20,000 (depending on scale of damage) will be disbursed soon, a statement issued by revenue and disaster management department said.
As many as 2, 87,762 families have been affected in Puri district. While 9,059 pucca and kutcha houses have been fully damaged, 1, 04,715 houses have been severely damaged. Similarly, 1, 13,221 pucca houses and 49,529 kutcha houses have been partially damaged. Besides, 2,178 huts and 1, 19,694 cow sheds have also been damaged in the district in the gale.
According to the norms of the state disaster response fund and the national disaster response fund, a person whose house (pucca or kutcha) has been fully or severely damaged will get house
building assistance of Rs 95,100. Assistance amounting to Rs 5,200 is payable for partial damage of pucca house, Rs 3200 for partial damage of kutcha house, Rs 4,100 for damage of hut and Rs 2,100 for damage of cowshed.
A person having fully damaged pucca and kutcha house will get Rs 20,000 as first installment. Similarly, Rs10,000 will be provided for severely damaged pucca and kutcha house in the first installment. But partially damaged pucca house and kutcha house will get Rs 5,200 and Rs 3,200 respectively as full payment.
All disbursements will be made through direct benefit transfer (DBT). The money will be transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. “The disbursement has already commenced and is likely to be completed very soon,” said a senior officer of revenue and disaster management department.
