Trigger warning for Stelena fans: The latest dish on The Vampire Diaries is not going to be to your liking.

On the latest episode of Candice King and Kayla Ewell's podcast, Directionally Challenged, Nina Dobrev admitted that when The Vampire Diaries first premiered, she was not immediately enamored of her co-star and on-screen love interest, Paul Wesley. In fact, she kind of hated the guy.

"Paul and I didn't get along at the beginning of the show. I respected Paul Wesley; I didn't like Paul Wesley," Dobrev said. "And I remember everyone would walk up to me after the show aired, and they'd be like, 'Are you and Paul dating in real life?' Because everyone thought that we had such good chemistry... I realize now that there's a fine line between love and hate, and we despised each other so much that it read as love, but it was burning-- we really just didn't get along the first maybe five months of shooting."

Wait, wait, wait... so all those longing looks of fiery passion were just hardcore hate stares? Kill me now.

Luckily, those feelings didn't last too long! Dobrev admitted that of all her castmates from The Vampire Diaries, she's actually closest with Wesley now that the show has ended and they've all gone their separate ways.

"We ended up getting to a good place, and it was fine. Of everyone, I think I probably see him the most and hang out with him the most," Dobrev said. "We are probably the closest. We hang out a lot, and we're really good friends... It's so funny how time changes everything because I never thought he would be one of my best friends."

Aww, so it's a platonic Stelena happy ending after all? We'll take it!
