An 11-year-old Texas boy was shot and killed while sleeping in his home early Sunday morning in a drive-by shooting that authorities say appears to have been intended for someone else.
The victim has been identified as Kamren Jones.
Investigators say he was asleep inside his home, located in North Brentwood Street in Channelview, Harris County, where he lived with his six siblings and their reportedly single father, Kenyatta Jones.
Multiple gunshots were fired into the family's home around 4.20am, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, who said Kamren was the only one injured in the shooting even though several other children were sleeping in the same room.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The family's home and a car in their driveway were seen riddled with bullet holes after the incident.

Authorities said the bullets appear to have been fired from semi-automatic rifles
'This is a tragic, a senseless, a sad situation,' Gonzalez said in a video tweeted out by the sheriff's department Sunday morning.
'This is a child. And these are cowards that shoot into a home. They could have killed and injured a lot more people... We're going to do all we can to bring justice to this 11-year-old that lost his life this morning so tragically.'
Gonzalez told Click2Houston it appeared the bullets fired into the home came from a semi-automatic rifle.
The Jones family had only been living in the house for a few months. Earlier reports indicate criminal activity was taking place at the home when it's previous occupants lived there.
