4 killed as Delhi-bound Rajdhani express runs over them in UP

The accident took place at around 6.50am at Balrai railway station
AGRA: Four people were mowed down by Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani express near Etawah-Firozabad border on Monday morning.
The accident took place at around 6.50am at Balrai railway station when scores of passengers of Mumbai-bound Avadh Express were standing along the railway track and were run over the train.
According to police, the four victims were heading to Mumbai. All four hailed from Jagaur village of Kaushambi district. Victims have been identified as Jeetu (19), Pintu (20), Gore Lal and Surender.
Kamla Shankar, acting station house officer of Etawah GRP said, “Since the general coach of Muzaffarpur-Bandra Terminus Avadh Express was jam-packed, some of the passengers decided to shift to nearest sleeper coach. During this movement, passengers went on the railway track but came under the wheels of Rajdhani express.”
“Neither Avadh Express nor Rajdhani Express had halted at Balrai railway station, but in order to give a pass to premium Rajdhani, Avadh was taken on loop line at 6.31am and the main track was cleared for the Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani express,” he added.
Victims' body were sent for autopsy.

No protest was reported and train movement was normal on the Delhi-Kanpur high speed corridor.
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences and directed the local district administration to provide every possible help to injured.
