Air India to resume Delhi-Colombo flight

10 Jun 2019 by Sanchita Nambiar

Air India is set to resume its additional flights on Delhi-Colombo route, from July 15. The news was confirmed by Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.

Puri tweeted:

The national carrier of India had stopped operating additional flights to the island country, following the deadly Easter attack on April 21 that led to the killing of over 250 people, out of which 11 were Indians.

Air India’s move comes immediately after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visited Sri Lanka where he pledged India’s solidarity with the people and victims of the attack.

Air India was also supposed to launch direct service between Mumbai and Colombo, from May 1, but deferred the decision after the bombing. Currently, there is no update on when this service will commence.
