A day after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi released its Outcome Budget for 2019-2020, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleged it was “misleading” even as it challenged Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to a debate on his “development model for Delhi”.
In response to Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s assertion that the exercise was an “achievement” in terms of governance for the AAP government, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari argued it was a “failed budget”.
“The Delhi government has itself admitted that it has not been able to work successfully for the people of Delhi. Kejriwal’s party is again trying to mislead the people with the Outcome Budget in view of the next Assembly election and to continue in power,” he alleged.
“When Kejriwal could not give free Wi-Fi in four years, how will he provide free travel to women in metro [trains] and buses? How will a party, which could not even touch the targets fixed by itself seek votes from the people of Delhi again?” Mr. Tiwari said.
Delhi BJP spokesperson Harish Khurana alleged that the data presented by the AAP government was “misleading” and challenged Mr. Kejriwal to a debate.
“@msisodia ji saw ur outcome budget.U have highlighted ur govt performance. I found the data which u r presenting in misleading. Let’s have a debate on @ArvindKejriwal development model for delhi. I once again challenge u let’s fix time and venue of ur choice.Lets Debate” Mr. Khurana tweeted.
Mr. Tiwari, on his part, accused the AAP government of only making announcement and not working on the ground. Through the Outcome Budget, the North East Delhi MP argued, the AAP government in Delhi was “admitting that it has failed to run the government” and hence the BJP was the only alternative for the people of Delhi.
“The people of Delhi are ready to form a BJP government with full majority in the next Assembly elections. People very well know that Delhi will develop only when there is a BJP government in the State and a [Narendra] Modi government at the Centre,” Mr. Tiwari argued.
