Regain people’s confidence, CPM tells state unit

Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM central committee has urged the state unit of the party to chart out an action plan to bridge the gap between the people and the party in Kerala.
The central committee which observed that there has been a mass erosion in the vote bank of the LDF in the Lok Sabha election, urged the state committee to regain the confidence of the people by reaching out to the people.
The central committee urged that if there is a need for convening a party plenum for this, then the state committee should go ahead with convening the plenum.

The state committee report on the Lok Sabha debacle was presented before the central committee in which the state committee did not admit directly that Sabarimala was the reason behind the defeat. The state committee report said that the traditional vote bank of the party had drifted away and there were several factors, including Sabarimala, for this.
The central committee directed that the action plan should have measures to strengthen the party at the grass roots and to regain the confidence of those organisations which were once with the Left parties. It also directed that a massive people’s campaigns should be launched and steps should be taken to strengthen the ties between the Left parties.
