Vadodara: Additional charity commissioner of Vadodara, N C Patadiya, has rejected the appointments of spiritual leader Vrajrajkumar Goswami and prominent cardiologist Dr Darshan Banker among 11other persons as trustees of Shri Narhari Manav Kalyan Trust. The trust handles Narhari Hospital in Fatehgunj.
A resolution for appointment of the 11 persons to the trust was passed by the board of trustees in 2018. The board also passed the resolution to remove late spiritual leader Indirabetiji from the list of trustees owing to her demise. While Patadiya accepted the resolution to remove late Indirabetiji’s name, he rejected the appointments of new trustees.
In doing so, Patadiya pointed to the laws and bylaws of the trust, which showed that the appointments were wrong. As per the trust’s law, it should have minimum 11 trustees and maximum 21 trustees. In 2007 when there were 12 trustees, one of them resigned and in March 2008 another passed away, which brought down the number to 10. Since then the trust is being managed by less than minimum required number of trustees. Again, seven resolutions made in last 25 years for the appointment of new trustees were never upheld by the office of charity commissioner.
“For last 11 years when the trust was being managed by less than minimum required number of trustees, the trust never went to higher courts for appointment of new trustees, the order of which was rejected by the previous charity commissioner,” the order read. Thus, as the resolution was passed against the laws of the trust, the resolution was rejected.
The others citizens whose appointments besides Goswami and Banker were rejected include Sharmishtha Vakil, Shaileshkumar Shah, Ashish Parikh, Kamal Pathak, Anuj Patel, Mukund Shah, Nikhil Shah, Shruti Shroff and Tuli Kevalkrishna.
