Burglars flee with Rs8 lakh cash from doctor’s residence

Nagpur: Unidentified burglars managed to flee with cash Rs eight lakh, jewellery and CCTV recorder from the residence of noted cardiologist Dr Sunil Washimkar at Shastri Nagar layout.
The burglary was noticed by Dr Washimkar’s driver who had come to water the plants on Sunday morning. He alerted Dr Washimkar’s kin who in turn inform the police. Dr Washimkar had gone to Goa to attend some conferences. It’s learnt the exact loss of the family would be ascertained only after Dr Washimkar returns to the city.
Some gold jewellery and cash Rs63,000 were left behind by the burglars who may have failed to spot them among the belongings. Police also feel that the jewellery were mistaken by the burglars as imitation ones.
The burglars, who managed to gain entry by breaking open the front door’s central locking system, were lucky to lay their hands upon the bunch of keys which made their crime easier.
The Rana Pratap Nagar police have registered an offence of burglary. Crime branch too have began a parallel probe into the incident. Cops are learnt to be groping in the dark as the lane does not have many CCTV cameras and also the ones installed inside the house of Dr Washimkar are now rendered defunct without the recorders.
