Robbery victim claims cops put him behind bars

KALYAN: A businessman from Kalyan, Vinayak Pawar (26) that he was put behind bars after being robbed. The complainant, Vinayak Pawar (26), alleged that the police refused to lodge his complaint when he went to Khadakpada police station on Tuesday after he was robbed of cash and the gold chain.
He said he was put behind bars "illegally" for more than two hours and even after four days no complaint has been registered by the police.
Deputy commissioner of police Vivek Pansare, he has ordered a probe into the matter.

Pawar resides in Yogidham locality and runs a company which deals in civil works. On Tuesday, he had received Rs 1.50 lakh as payment from a client. He said he was returning home on his bike when three people, one of them identified as Prashant Raut, waylaid the bike. Two others joined in and assaulted Pawar and grabbed his valuables and fled.
Pawar's father, Vijay, told TOI that his son saw the accused, Prashant Raut, telling the cop that it was Pawar who had stolen Rs 4 lakh and a gold chain from him.
