CHENNAI: Several leaders and functionaries of the Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP would be part of the state government after the next assembly elections, Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma said on Sunday.
“I will come again before and after the assembly elections in the state. Believe me, people sitting on the dais and off the dais will be part of the Tamil Nadu government,” Sharma said while addressing BJP workers at the party office here.
Later, speaking to reporters, Sharma expressed confidence in the BJP’s growth in the state. He said the party members were working hard and would “emerge as a strong force” in near future.
Asked about the controversy over the three-language formula, he said the BJP did not believe in hurting the feelings of anyone in the name of caste, religion and linguistics. “The party believes in development. We will never hurt anyone’s feelings,” he said.

On the party’s thumping victory in the Lok Sabha elections, he said after 48 years, a party had registered a massive victory to form the government on its own. He denied allegation that the BJP was an anti-minority party and said 12% of Muslims had voted for the party in UP and 17% of the first-time voters from the religion had exercised their franchise for the party in the polls.
Besides the hard work of the party cadre, the guidance of the Rashtriya Swayasevak Sangh (RSS) had played a crucial role in the BJP’s massive victory, he said. “The leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party president Amit Shah, who were the two gems of the country, has also played a pivotal role in the victory. Uttar Pradesh chief minister Adityanath is another gem of the party. They will bring development for the country with their schemes,” he said.
