Vadodara: Barodians continued to bake on Sunday as there was no respite from scorching heat.
The maximum temperature that the city recorded on Sunday was 41.8 degrees – three degrees above normal whereas the minimum temperature that the city registered was 29.4 degrees – one above normal.
The fact that the citizens did not receive any respite from the rising levels of mercury was evident as Sunday’s minimum temperature was the highest that the city witnessed in last decade.
The last high in minimum temperature that the city had recorded in the month of June was 27.3 degrees which was registered on June 24, 2009.
Sunday’s maximum temperature was marginally less compared to Saturday when the city had recorded 42 degrees. Yet, it was the highest of the last three summers. In 2016, the city had registered 44.1 degrees on June 6.
Major roads in the city adorned a deserted look as despite being a holiday, people preferred staying indoors during the day.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the maximum temperature to remain between 40 to 42 degrees during the next two days while the minimum temperature is expected to remain in the range of 28 to 29 degrees.
