Man shot after liquor vend scuffle

Kanpur: A 28-year-old man was shot dead near a country-made liquor outlet outside Kalyanpur railway station in the city on late Sunday evening.
The deceased, Suraj, was rushed to Lala Lajpat Rai hospital, where he was declared brought dead on arrival. The crime took place following a scuffle between Suraj and a group of unidentified men near the liquor vend, the police said.
"After scuffle, the assailants allegedly started indiscriminate firing in which bullets hit Suraj, and he slumped on the ground. He was taken to LLR hospital, where he was declared brought dead," said inspector Kalyanpur Ashwini Pandey.
Investigations are underway in this regard, he added.
