French Open Final: Nadal races to win third set 6-1

Nadal breaks twice and leads 3-0 in the third set.

The Spaniard's level has been outstanding in the third set.

Nadal races to 5-1. Nadal has a reply for everything this set and wins it 6-1.

Thiem wins the first game. Just the start he needed.

Stunning forehand from Thiem. He leads 2-1 in the second set. Nadal races to 40-0 and then completes 2-2 to equalise.

Thiem steadily takes 4-3. But soon Nadal levels it at 4-4.  Nadal stays on the front foot to control proceedings. To make the set look like 5-5. Nadal serves to send this to a tie-break.

 

This is terrific! Dominic Thiem wins the second set 7-5 over Nadal.

The first point of the match goes with the King of Clay, Rafael Nadal. He also takes the first game, leading 1-0.

Austria's Dominic Thiem gets back 1-1.

Nadal rips a backhand winner down the line. He leads 4-3 after 44 minutes. 

Nadal breaks again. He goes up 5-3.

Nadal wins the first set 6-3.

Nadal has looked unstoppable in his quest for a record-extending 12th Roland Garros title and was at his ruthless best in his semi-final victory over great rival Roger Federer.

The Spaniard's sparkling run in Paris comes on the back of his Rome title win, which followed semi-final exits in Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Madrid.
