Hacked by in-laws in busy SR Nagar

A newly-wed youngster was allegedly hacked by his in-laws in broad daylight on the busy SR Nagar road on Friday evening.

The gruesome incident took place around 6.30 p.m. when the couple, along with other family members, were returning home in Sangareddy district after a heated argument at SR Nagar police station about their recent marriage.

The victim, identified as Imtiaz (20), who was rushed to a nearby private hospital, was said to be out of danger, while the accused are at large, police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) A.R. Srinivas said that on Wednesday, the teenager had left home and married Imtiaz in Sadashivpet in Sangareddy. Later in the evening, she was traced and handed over to her parents, following a missing complaint.

“On Friday, her parents called Imtiaz and his family to the police station for discussion. There the girl insisted that she would live with Imtiaz,” police said. Minutes after they left the police station in an SUV, the teenager’s father, her three brothers and a relative waylaid the vehicle after crossing Umesh Chandra statue.

“They dragged him out of the car and attacked him with knives. When he tried to escape, the assailants chased and hacked him,” the investigators said.
