JHANSI: Even as national outrage over brutal murder of a two-year-old in Aligarh continues, body of a ten-year-old girl was recovered from a graveyard in Shivni village here of Hamirpur district on Saturday morning.
According to the police, around 6.30am, some of the villagers spotted the body of the girl and then informed the parents of the victim, who then informed police, under Kurara police station area.
Victim's parents, who work as daily wage labourers at a local brick kiln, suspect that the minor was sexually assaulted before being murdered.
SHO Kurara, KK Pandey said father of victim girl told the cops that his daughter had taken dinner and then slept by 9.30pm on Friday. When he woke up on Saturday morning, he did not find his daughter lying on the cot. In the mean time, villagers informed him about recovery of his daughter's body, barely 50 meters from his house.
Pandey said that police were taking the neighbours' statements while the parents had not named anybody in the FIR, which was yet to be registered.
Senior police officials reached the site and an investigation was under way.

Superintendent of police (SP) Hamirpur told TOI that prima-facie the incident appeared to be that of murder and did not rule out the possibility of the victim being subjected to sexual assault before being killed. He, however, said such details would be confirmed only after the post-mortem examination.
Police were yet to make any arrests.
