Dy. CM lays foundation stone for Smart City projects

Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara on Friday laid the foundation stone for various development works in Tumakuru under the Smart City project. A humanoid robot named Nino developed by Sirena Technology provided information on the works being taken up.

These include a sports complex at Mahatma Gandhi Stadium at an estimated cost of ₹49.97 crore; a medical facility and trauma centre at the district government hospital (₹56 crore); and integrated terminal redevelopment at KSRTC bus station (₹93.78 crore), among other projects.

Dr. Parameshwara said Tumakuru will be transformed into a smart city by using ₹1,000 crore funds from the State and Union governments. As per the requirements of the city, development works related to sports, education, health, drinking water and roads are being taken up, he said.

An integrated command centre will be established to help the police maintain law and order. What is touted as Asia’s biggest industrial hub is being developed at Vasanthanarasapura industrial area on the outskirts of the city.
