Long time between drinks

Brisbane are aiming for their best start to a season since 2004. In fact, they haven't won eight games in a season since 2013.

Nothing Marvel-lous about these records!

Neither of these teams have enjoyed the Docklands stadium in recent times.

Carlton have lost 11 of their last 12 at the ground while Brisbane have lost eight of their last 10 there.

But the Lions did win their last game at Marvel Stadium against North Melbourne in round two.

Lions have the wood over the Blues

Recent history is certainly on the Lions' side with six wins from their past seven meetings with Carlton, but they've only beaten the Blues once at Marvel Stadium in the past nine years.

Big ask for Blues

A change of coach can definitely result in a lift in output, as we saw with the Kangas last week, but it would still take a huge effort by Carlton to beat the Brisbane Lions today.

The Lions are 7-4 and knocking on the top four's door whereas the Blues are two games clear on the bottom of the ladder with a 1-10 record, having lost their last six games and 39 of their last 43.

Another loss for Carlton today would see them start a season 1-11 for the second year in a row.

Greetings, everyone!

Hello and welcome to another big Saturday of AFL action!

It all kicks off at Marvel Stadium where Carlton face the Brisbane Lions in caretaker David Teague's first game in charge of the Blues after Brendon Bolton was sacked on Monday.

Eight of the last 10 caretakers have lost their first game at the helm, but Teague will be hoping to emulate Rhyce Shaw who kicked off his coaching career at North Melbourne with a win last week.

The twilight game sees Gold Coast host Shaw's Kangaroos at Metricon Stadium and the best is saved for last as Adelaide take on GWS at Adelaide Oval in the night game.
