Vadodara: The state government will allocate Rs 10 crore to the tourism department for developing the Fossil Park-Dinosaur Museum as an international tourist spot using modern technologies, said chief minister Vijay Rupani while inaugurating the Dinosaur Museum at Raiyoli near Balasinor in Mahisagar district on Saturday.
Rupani said that students and experts interested in the study of origin and evolution of the reptile must visit the Fossil Park-Dinosaur Museum. He also expressed confidence that the museum will also generate employment opportunity for the locals after the park turns into a tourist spot.
About 66 million years ago various species giant dinosaurs were found in Raiyoli. The site is known to be the third largest fossil site in the world and also the second largest dinosaur hatchery in the world.
Along with the park, the site also has a 10-gallery museum — the first-of-its-kind in the country. It has 3D projection, 360 degrees virtual reality presentations, interactive kiosks, gaming consoles and other facilities.
The museum will have an environment recreated like the prehistoric era when dinosaurs moved around freely in Raiyoli. As many as 50 sculptures of dinosaurs including a life-size sculpture of Rajasaurus Narmadensis, found in Gujarat, have been erected around the museum.
