Four Mumbai students shine at Olympiads

MUMBAI: Four students from the city made their mark in the recently held Olympiad exams. At a ceremony held on June 2 in New Delhi, the international achievers from classes I to XII were felicitated for the Cyber, English and Mathematics Olympiads.

Soham Pednekar, a class V student from Pawar Public School, was awarded a gold medal and a cash prize of Rs 50,000 for the National Cyber Olympiad. Shaurya Naman, a class IX student from NES International School, received a silver medal for placing second in the International English Olympiad. Agastya Dey and Dakshesh Burman, of the Navy Children School and Rustomjee Cambridge International School and Junior College respectively, were both felicitated with gold medals for acing the International Mathematics Olympiad.
The 2019 SOF (Science Olympiad Foundation) exams saw participation from over 50 lakh students from 30 countries around the globe. From Mumbai alone, around 1.6 lakh students gave the exam.
