The decks have been cleared for admission to the 200 MBBS seats at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer), with the declaration of results of the entrance examination on Friday.
The 200 seats include the 50 seats in Jipmerās off site campus in Karaikal. The results this year have been published ahead of the scheduled date of June 21.
Candidates who have qualified will be called for the first round of counselling which will be held over three days from June 26. Counselling for general category candidates will be conducted on June 26, the OBC/SC/ST candidates on June 27 and Puducherry and NRI candidates on June 28.
Classes are expected to commence for the new MBBS batch on July 3. More than 1.84 lakh candidates had taken the Jipmer MBBS entrance examination, a common computer-based online test, held on June 2 at 280 centres across 120 cities.
