Vadodara: Of the 55,000-odd students from the city who participated in the SOF Olympiad 2018-19, four have bagged international ranks, of whom two grabbed the top spot. The Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) aims to identify, motivate and reward talent and performance at international, state and school levels.
During 2018-19, around 50 lakh students from over 50,000 schools from 1,400 cities across 30 countries had participated in the six SOF Olympiad exams.
In the international mathematics olympiad, class 2 student from Delhi Public School (DPS) Aanvi Poddar bagged international rank 1. In the international english olympiad, Tanisha Shah, a class 1 student of Navrachana International School bagged international rank 1. The duo got gold medals and certificates for their outstanding performance.
At the same time, Kilaru Hashita Srinivasu, a student of class 2 from DPS bagged international rank 2 in international mathematics olympiad while Rudra Parmar, a class 1 student from Yagnik Vidyalaya got rank 2 in the international general knowledge olympiad and took home a silver medal and a certificate.
SOF had organized a felicitation function to recognize and award the international winning students of olympiad exams at New Delhi. During the function, the top three international rank holders from classes 1 to 12 for the six olympiad exams conducted by SOF were awarded in presence of justice Dipak Misra, former chief justice of India, who was the chief guest on the occasion.
A total of 60 awards were given to those students who bagged international rank one, with each winner being awarded Rs 50,000, a gold medal and a merit certificate.
