Two Chirons were spied at the Nurburgring earlier this week. Both of them appeared to be stock, although the roll cage that was fitted and the safety gear worn by the crew suggest that these could be some kind of testing prototypes.

If we were to speculate, we’d say that Bugatti is probably prepping yet another special edition, like the Sport or the 110 Ans.

Another possibility is that they’re using the Chiron’s body on different underpinnings, maybe for the long-rumored second Bugatti. CEO Stephan Winkelmann has already alluded to that, saying that it will be in a different segment than the Chiron – and nothing more…

More coach-built models, in the vein of the La Voiture Noire, cannot be ruled out either. Also, despite the official denials about a Chiron Super Sport developed to set a new top speed record for production cars, it is still thought to be a strong contender.

Of course, this is not the first time we saw mystery Chirons at the ‘Ring. One year ago, we saw another couple being unleashed at the German track, and we were none the wiser back then than we are know as to their true identity. Until we do learn anything, though, we can bask in that thunderous quad-turbo W16 engine disturb the peace around the Nordschleife.
