Rajkot: Keeping in tune with union housing and urban affairs ministry’s cleanliness survey league 2020, Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) has made plans to make the city clean before October 2, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. For this, the civic body also handed over responsibility to various non-profit organizations and trade and industrial associations on Saturday. Among top 100 smart cities, Rajkot city is currently placed on the seventh rank in the country for its cleanliness.
According to a statement issued by the RMC, Rotary Club mid-town will work to install sanitary pad machine and incineration in six high schools run by the civic body. This organization will also make ‘cleanliness pocket’ that will be installed in BRTS and city buses to help passengers throw trash in them and not on the road while travelling.
The Bolbala charitable trust will work to spread awareness about segregation of dry and wet garbage in Chotunagar slum areas, while the association of self finance schools will play a song about ‘cleanliness’ daily with the morning prayer to encourage students to maintain cleanliness.
The Rajkot management association will make a video song to spread the message of deaddiction of tobacco, the organization will also put up banners and stickers with emotional messages and slogans at various paan kiosks in the city.
JCI Silver will spread awareness on cleanliness using social media. Mission smart city trust, which will organize fun street every Sunday in race course, will organize street plays about cleanliness and also organize competitions. Rajkot management association will distribute cloth bags to curb use of plastic bags.
