HYDERABAD: Short circuit in the transformer near a plastic factory, led to a fire in the G+1 factory building at Babul Reddy Nagar area of Mailardevpally on wee hours of Saturday.
The fire control room received an alert around 3am when a local resident noticed smoke and flames from the factory.
As no workers were inside the place, no casualties were reported, said fire department.
"The fire took place at the ground floor and gutted the plastic scrap material and the machinery inside the factory," said GV Prasad, assistant district fire officer (ADFO) of Rangareddy district.

According to an official, a short circuit in a transformer located close to the factory triggered the fire which spread to the factory. As many as five fire tender and 28 firefighters were put in place.
"We could completely douse the fire by morning 6.30am. Most of the material inside the factory got gutted. The property loss has been estimated to be over Rs 10 lakh," said a fire officer.
