Books for libraries in police stations distributed

Minister for Electricity P.Thangamani on Saturday launched two android mobile applications ‘Nam Kaval’ and ‘Cops Eye’ developed for police department to prevent crimes in the district.

While ‘Nam Kaval’ will be an application open to the public, ‘Cops Eye’ will be accessible by police personnel only and it will be utilised for their internal communication purposes like sharing details regarding suspects, including their pictures.

According to police sources, public will be able to raise complaints on ‘Nam Kaval’ application and in a later stage, various additional features will be included in the app specific to elderly persons.

Inspector-General of Police (west zone) K. Periaiah launched the ‘Nam Kaval’ application.

Launching the applications, Mr. Thangamani said, “such applications would help police force to have a better and a friendly connect with the people. Following the efforts by the rural police, CCTV surveillance cameras are also available at most places here.”

As part of the event, the Minister along with Superintendent of Police Ara. Arularasu distributed books for libraries in police stations in the district.

Congratulated

The Minister also congratulated 50 police personnel and NSS volunteers, who donated blood as part of the event and distributed appreciation certificates to them.

Mr. Thangamani also hailed the district administration, rural police and NSS volunteers for smooth conduct of elections in the district.

District Collector M. Asia Mariam, Deputy Inspector General T. Senthil Kumar and senior district administration officials were present at the function.
