Revellers filled up the marquees as the races were run at the Channel Seven Brisbane Racing Carnival which was presented by TAB.

Punters are encouraged to embrace the theme of 'glitz and glamour' with a colour theme of red and black also set out for the attire.

Several embraced the theme and came in bright reds and deep blacks with a touch of white while others were happy to dress up in whatever they could to enjoy the atmosphere.

The legendary 1,400m TAB Stradbroke Handicap is widely considered to be Queensland's most distinguished race and the huge crowd of revellers helped prove that point.

Some revellers looked worse for wear as the day wore on and others were pictured tucking into some delicious track side food to help stave off the day's liquid intake.

Multiple generations of race goers were track side for the prestigious race and as a result a clear blend of styles was noticeable.

It seemed one of the favoured outfit styles for the day was a throwback to the more classical age of horse racing with top hats, canes, suspenders and vests, adding some extra class to the day's proceedings.

Even the staff at Eagle Farm were getting in on the fun as they smiled for the cameras while delivering drinks and food to the huge throng of revellers.

The showpiece of the day, the Stradbroke Handicap, is run over 1400m with a $1,500,000 in prize money up for grabs.

The race was named after Lord Stradbroke, a relative to Henry John Rous who was the originator of the 'weight-for-age scale in thoroughbred racing'.

The inaugural running of the race was in 1890 at Eagle Farm and has been run there every year since except for the 2014–15 racing season when the course underwent reconstruction.

During that season another famed Brisbane racecourse, Doomben, hosted the event.

With a long and rich history dating back to the late 1800s this year's dress theme of 'glitz and glamour' seemed perfectly suited to the event.
