PATNA: Three severed human heads, including that of a woman, were found next to the Patna-Bakhtiyarpur national highway on Friday in the Fatuha area of rural
Patna.
One of the heads has letters A, N and P inscribed on the left cheek using a sharp object, police said. The heads were spotted by a farmer who was working in his maize field.
“Forensic experts, after their preliminary investigation, said the murder took place more than a week back,” SP (Rural) Kantesh Kumar Mishra said.
Despite an extensive search using sniffer dogs police failed to find the missing torsos, indicating that the murders took place elsewhere and the heads dumped near the highway. “Police believes the heads were thrown from a moving vehicle, a few seconds apart, between late Thursday night and early Friday morning,” Mishra said.
“Forensic experts also told the police that the wounds on the head were inflicted after the death of the persons, which means the letters were inscribed after the head was severed,” Mishra said, adding all police station across the state have been alerted about the incident and information related to any related missing complaints have been sought.
“The human heads would be sent for DNA sampling. None of their identities or age could be ascertained. Forensic experts would ascertain the approximate age of the female and the males with help of their dental growths,” the SP said.
He said if the identities of the slain persons are not established soon, their details and photographs would be sent to the CID for publication in newspapers and sending it to police in other states.
