1973 Holden Monaro GTS Restomod Envisioned With Corvette Z06 Heart, Widebody Kit

We sure like a cool restomod, especially when muscle cars are involved – so much so, we’re even willing to go past the fact that some don’t actually exist and are just proposals for such a project.

Abimelec Design has specialized in coming up with ideas for restomods and has been particularly successful putting a modern twist on classic Australian muscle cars such as the Ford Falcon XB Coupe and Chrysler Valiant Charger.

His virtual showroom of restomodded Aussie muscle cars would not be complete without the Holden Monaro GTS, and that’s the one right here. Unlike the Falcon and the Hellcat-powered Charger which were conceived as a cruiser and daily driver, respectively, the Monaro is a different kind of beast.

Starting from a 1973 model, the artist envisioned a track-ready Monaro GTS complete with a 650 HP supercharged LT4 V8 sourced from the Corvette Z06, a roll cage, and a set of beefy fender flares to make room for the extra wide Toyo R888 road-legal semi-slick tires.

Abimelec Design admits to taking inspiration from Ringbrothers for the exterior treatment and we can’t see anything wrong with that. Quite the contrary: the build looks clean and mean at the same time and it’s hard to believe these are just CGIs and not photos of the real thing.

The Monaro GTS virtual restomod ditches all the chrome trim and replaces it with satin silver with a touch of copper to provide a cool contrast to the metallic dark blue paint. The exterior changes are rounded off by the Rotiform KPS rims painted black and the modern LED headlights.
