KANPUR: An SIT of Kanpur Police on late Friday night took Dr Deepak Shukla, CEO of Delhi's Pushpawati Singhania Research Institute (PSRI) hospital, into its custody for questioning in connection with the sensational international kidney racket busted in Kanpur on February 17, 2019.
"We have detained Dr Deepak Shukla, CEO of PSRI hospital in Delhi on Friday night. Probe is on and we have some leads. The picture will be clear soon," said SP Crime Rajesh Yadav.
Acting on a complaint from an electrician's wife at Barra police station, the cops have so far arrested Gaurav Mishra of Lakhimpur Khiri, T Rajkumar Rao of Kolkata, Shailesh Saxena of Badarpur in Delhi, Saboor Ahmad of Kakori near Lucknow, Vicky Singh of Panki near Kanpur and Shamshad Ali of Chowk in Lucknow. Following a tip-off provided by the six arrested persons, the police had arrested three more persons identified as Ramu Pandey and Shyam Tiwari and Junaid from Andha Quan in Barra area of the City.
The police have so far arrested ten persons in connection with the case.
Subsequently, the police had recorded statements of 12 persons, including doctors, paramedical staff and coordinators of two Delhi hospitals - PSRI and Fortis, besides also gathered vital records to file a chargesheet in the case.
"A total of ten accused, including alleged mastermind T Raj Kumar Rao, have been arrested till date in the racket. The arrested accused include Shailesh Saxena, who had worked as personal secretaries to
Apollo hospital doctors for three-four years," said senior SIT official.
