A 42-year-old mentally unsound woman committed suicide by setting herself ablaze at an old age home on Friday. Police said that the woman, identified as Syed Sabab from Zaheerabad, was admitted to Shifaullah Old Age Home in Hassan Nagar by her father last year.
She was kept in a separate room. Around 1 a.m. on Friday, the staff noticed the flames coming from her room. Soon, fire tenders were pressed into service but, by the time it was under control, she was dead. Sabab was depressed as neither her parents nor relatives visited her for six months, police said.
